Bamboo reception tent rental in Genthod, Switzerland
When we had just made our first investment in a bamboo tent, Marina CARDIS – event organizer in France and abroad, contacted us to collaborate with her on a private event: a wedding in an eco-friendly reception tent, on the shores of Lake Geneva near Geneva in Switzerland.
Setting up bamboo reception tent in Switzerland
Our bamboo reception tent was the first of this style to be installed in Switzerland. A surface of 15x35m, or 525m2 of bamboo tent was installed with a self-supporting floor of the same size.
This installation was carried out in the rules of the art and taking into account the safety of the Shadow Men (assembly team).
Location visit for the bamboo tent in Switzerland
During the preliminary location visit (around 3 months before D-Day), we identified different problems:
- Customs Declaration
- Hotel accommodation
- Restricted access for heavy goods vehicles (3 carriers of 19t)
- Significant elevation gain (about 1.00 m)
Constitution of the self-supporting floor for the bamboo reception tent
We install our floor on a double transverse metal sheet with spacings every 83 cm. Wedging points every 1.25m2 are installed ensuring comfort and security. Finally we enclose wooden slats on the aluminum crosspieces. So you get a smooth, flat surface.

With a drop of more than 1 meter, we had to stall thanks to a jack system with, in part, a scaffolding to compensate for high points. Thus, facing Lake Geneva, the foundations of the bamboo marquee were set up perfectly.

We encountered significant constraints due to the wind blowing at more than 50 km / h when the 525m2 canvas was installed.
Before this installation, we affix twisted anchor spikes to the ground which replace the conventional anchor of bamboo tent designers. Thus, the resistance to tearing is increased tenfold. This anchor is placed every 2.5m around the surface of the bamboo architecture. Then 32 bamboo poles are positioned on the ground at the periphery of the marquee.
We then install the central masts in the center of the dimension, spaced every 5M, and we come to cover them with our champagne-colored canvas.
Bamboo tent decoration
We also installed various small bamboo tents and shade sails. Then, Marina CARDIS, managed more than a dozen companies to organize the bamboo wedding tent. An original decoration with scenic light bridges was installed, a covering of the shrouds with ropes, a carpet, a staging of the Geneva Opera with their artists and bright balloons on the lake.
